The Zoom H1…. is it really all that the critics are yelling about? Is it really that good?
In all honesty, yes it is. We have specifically used the H1 over a variety of years, for many different reasons. Though it might look slightly odd, it has EXACTLY what you need. (Not to mention that the durability is great… we’ve dropped it many times, but it works fine!)

The Zoom H1 has a variety of great features/ benefits, and the major ones are listed below:

And many more! We are also surprised by the crazy battery life. For such a little device, it can last upwards of 10 hours, which is really unheard of (especially during the time it was produced)- and a great thing about this site is its fantastic portability. You can easily carry it anywhere, and it is lightweight, and like we mentioned: durable. You can seriously record whatever the heck you want, whenever the heck you want.
Like all Zoom recorders, the H1′s onboard microphones are configured in an X/Y pattern, for stunning stereo imaging. Because both mics are arranged on the same axis, they are equidistant from the sound source for perfect localization and no phase shifting. The result is great stereo recordings with natural depth and accurate imaging.
With its newly designed user interface, the H1 is also our easiest recorder to use. All its functions are at your fingertips, such as track marker, auto record, low cut filter, level and volume controls with on-board buttons…No menus required!
Intuitive controls make it easy to capture the audio you need with ease. But it still provides the versatility you’ve come to expect from Zoom. So you get total recording format flexibility from 16-bit/44.1 kHz to 24-bit/96 kHz WAV, or MP3 from 48 kbps to 320 kbps and enough tools onboard to make impeccable recordings.
The fantastic part is the high speed USB 2.0 port, which allows the H1 the most blazing transfers to any computer size. It is especially great for transferring multiple, smaller files for much easier managing.
Our specific rating of this gadget is : 4.7/ 5 – we highly value its durability, reliability, and high speed performance. We figure however, the design could have been slightly better- ( if you want a crazy cool design, check out the h2)
You can take this anywhere: from Operas to live concerts, to simply recording Youtube videos (better not get in copy-writing trouble though!)
