The Fujitsu ScanSnap S1500 is another scanner in the ScanSnap series providing the unique single button searchable PDF creation system for the individual user. In this design, the unit has a detector for paper feeds to eliminate paper jamming or skewing when it comes to scanning documents. As a result, the unit can produce twenty (20) pages per minute of full color scanning. The feed is able to manage fifty (50) sheets of paper at any given time and together with the included Adobe Acrobat 9 Standard program, a multitude of copies can be made of both documents and images from the scanner.

Our review of the Fujitsu ScanSnap S1500

This flatbed desktop scanner is connected to either a personal computer or laptop to be able to scan a maximum document size of 8.5 inches by 14.17 inches, which is the standard size for legal documents. It is fully color supported producing a maximum horizontal resolution of 600 dpi and a vertical resolution of 600 dpi. To be able to fully support the features of the Fujitsu ScanSnap S1500, the standard operating system of the PC or laptop must either be MS Windows 2000 Professional, MS Windows Vista, both the 32 bit and the 64 bit or MS Windows XP.

In terms of size on a table, the scanner is medium scaled 11.5 inches in width, 6.3 inches in depth, 6.2 inches in height and with an overall weight of 6.6 pounds. This medium sized scanner is a very speedy and reliable scanner best for individual or office use.

The main feature that separates the Fujitsu ScanSnap S1500 is its ability to scan both sides of a page at the same time, thus actually doubling its scanning speed to up to forty (40) pages per minute. Despite the blazing speed, there is no shortage of quality as its 600 dpi color matrix is ably supported by several optimal software such as the Adobe Acrobat 9, the ABBYY FineReader and the Rack2-Filer.

Unlike other previous and current scanners from its parent company, the Fujitsu ScanSnap S1500 does not have the TWAIN drivers to allow other documents to be scanned and edited right away. This though is a good design decision, as the speed it is able to create PDF files rivals no other, should your focus would be making PDF documents for your file purposes. One drawback is its total scanning detection ability, where it scans scratches and even lines on blank pages in your document auto feed.

Overall, the Fujitsu ScanSnap S1500 is a medium, lightweight but hardworking scanner best dedicated for documents storage and filing purposes.
